Second-Generation Phosphorus: Recovery from Wastes towards the Sustainability of Production Chains
نویسندگان
چکیده
Phosphorus (P) is essential for life and has a fundamental role in industry the world food production system. The present work describes different technologies adopted what called second-generation P recovery framework, that encompass obtained from residues wastes. high potential to substitute first-generation comprising originally mined rock phosphates agricultural production. Several physical, chemical, biological processes are available use recovery. They include both concentrating technologies: (1) chemical extraction using magnesium calcium precipitating compounds yielding struvite, newberyite phosphates; (2) thermal treatments like combustion, hydrothermal carbonization, pyrolysis; (3) nanofiltration ion exchange methods; (4) electrochemical processes; (5) such as composting, algae uptake, phosphate accumulating microorganisms (PAOs). However, best technology depends on characteristic of waste, purpose process, cost, availability land. exhaustion deposits (economic problem) accumulation (environmental main drivers incentivize P’s various Besides promoting resource’s safety, introduces raw materials, closing productive systems loop reducing their environmental damage.

Production of Activated Carbon from Cellulose Wastes
Cellulose wastes of a wood and paper factory were used to produce activated carbon. Several chemical agents under various conditions were used for production of activated carbon and hence their adsorption properties have been evaluated. In addition the effect of process parameters such as raw material, chemical agent concentration, impregnation ratio, carbonization temperature, carbonization ti...

In this work, oil mill wastewater (OMW), a residue generated during olive oil extraction, was evaluated as an inducer of rhamnolipid production. Using a medium containing as sole ingredients corn steep liquor (10%, v/v), sugarcane molasses (10%, w/v) and OMW (25%, v/v), Pseudomonas aeruginosa #112 produced 4.5 and 5.1g of rhamnolipid per liter in flasks and reactor, respectively, with critical ...
متن کاملLessons from first generation biofuels and implications for the sustainability appraisal of second generation biofuels☆
AIMS The emergence of second generation (2G) biofuels is widely seen as a sustainable response to the increasing controversy surrounding the first generation (1G). Yet, sustainability credentials of 2G biofuels are also being questioned. Drawing on work in Science and Technology Studies, we argue that controversies help focus attention on key, often value-related questions that need to be posed...
